MEET DAWN

She serves as the Assistant Majority Leader of Policy and Research and is a member of the following standing committees: Water Parks and Wildlife, Education, Military and Veterans Affairs, and Government Organization. Dawn also serves as Chair of the Select Committees on Serving Students with Disabilities and Offshore Wind Energy in California.

Dawn served from 2018 to 2022 as a member of the Morro Bay City Council. Her record of community involvement includes co-founding the Women’s March in San Luis Obispo (WMSLO), which drew a crowd of 10,000 people in 2017. Dawn also served as a board member for the Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund.

Professionally, Dawn worked as a teacher in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District for over 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art education and Spanish and a master’s in special education from San Francisco State University. She also holds four different teaching credentials.
